On this day in music history: July 29, 1987 – Ice cream makers Ben & Jerry’s introduce “Cherry Garcia” to the marketplace. Named in honor of the Grateful Dead leader and guitarist Jerry Garcia, it is the company’s first celebrity themed flavor. Made up of cherry flavored ice cream with cherries and dark chocolate pieces, it quickly becomes one the companies most popular flavors. Happy 30th Anniversary, “Cherry Garcia”!!!!
